My Maiden Visit to A Briquette Plant

I recently visited a village in Punjab who has gained popularity because of its self-reliance in producing and supplying uninterrupted power for carrying out agricultural activities. The unit was located inside the agricultural land and was procuring raw material from there. The project was joint venture of private and government. Government is offering a full support to these projects as they are contributing in rural development. There we thought of visiting a briquetting plant and how electricity is produced inside the plant. To answer our questions we were accompanied by official associated with operation of unit. Inside the plant we had seen how briquetting blocks are used in generating electricity.

The plant operates twenty four hour using raw material available in abundance. The industry is environment friendly because it produces no carbon while generating electricity. The official further told us that the industry is also earning carbon credit and making good bucks and profits. Inside the plant there were various types of biomass briquette machines installed producing the briquettes which is the final product used in generating electricity.

I was curious of what are the briquettes and asked the official accompanying us inside the plant. He explained to us that they are biomass waste of plant and agricultural crop. The raw material is used by biomass briquetting machines to produced compressed blocks of briquettes. This is more efficient way of utilizing the biomass waste instead of burning it in their raw form.

India is the only country where the briquetting sector is growing in spite of some early hiccups, he told to us. He further elaborated that because the sector has great potential corporate are also starting to invest in this sector. This will further strengthen the industry which is only benefiting the nation and rural economy. For more information you can visit the website.
